About Dr VanderVeen

Davis VanderVeen, PhD
Licensed Psychologist

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in health psychology and rehabilitation psychology. For many of the people I work with, I am the first mental health professional they have seen. Others are looking for a more effective approach to mental health treatment, or simply haven't been offered the types of treatments I provide. Either way, my hope is that you will leave each visit feeling empowered and confident in your ability to apply strategies between visits. I use evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness approaches.

I am passionate about being active. I was born and raised in Michigan, moved to Utah for the first time in 2017, and have been here full time since 2019. When I am not working, I enjoy playing tennis and golf, skiing, hiking, and running my Vizsla, Baker, around the mountainside.

My educational background includes:

2018-19- One year postdoctoral training in Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

2017-2018- Internship: SLC Veterans Healthcare Administration, SLC, UT

2013-2018- Ph.D. Clinical Health Psychology (2018): Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI), Indianapolis, IN

2013-2015- M.S. Clinical Health Psychology: IUPUI, Indianapolis, IN

2009-2013- B.A. Psychology and Neuroscience: Hope College, Holland, MI
